Sunday, May 31 is Pentecost! On Pentecost, 50 days after Easter, we remember the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the apostles in the form of tongues of fire - enabling the apostles to speak many tongues/ language so they were understood by all when they went out to spread/ teach Jesus’ Good News everywhere!

-Do a retell of the story by taking a picture walk to have your child tell what happened at the beginning, middle, and end of the story

Activity: Have your child listen and/ or follow along with the words as you point to them.
Discuss the song. What is it about? (story of Pentecost)
Invite your child to work with you to develop a clapping pattern to accompany the lively song or parts of the song. Repeat the song daily until he/she knows it well!
Math: Number sentences
Using magnetic numbers (from welcome to Kindergarten goody bag) on a cookie sheet, or using any small toys, create a number sentence.
Challenge yourself with take away sentences too.
See how many sentences you can come up with.
Language:
Play a fun sight word recognition game outside using chalk! Write all of your word wall words on your driveway. Then have an adult call out a word and you can hop to that word if you can recognize or read it. Continue playing until you can recognize all the words!

Try writing the letters of the alphabet or your word wall word using salt trays! All you need is a flat container/tray and salt or sand to write in with your finger!

Physical Education: Here’s a fun and easy math and movement activity! Roll a die and do the activity that matches the number you roll on the chart below. (Example of chart seen in weekly activity e-mail)
As a challenge you can think up some of your own activities and make a new chart of your own.Or add a second dice and come up with 6 more ideas, and practice adding while you move.

Seeds (Pea and bean seeds grow quickly)

STEP 1: Fill the jar with paper towels. Kids can fold them and push them down into the jar. This is also great work for little hands.STEP 2: Gently water your seed jar to wet the paper towels. DO NOT FLOOD IT!.STEP 3: Carefully push seeds down into the paper towels around the edge of the jar so they can still be seen. Make sure they are firmly held in place

Art: Now that the warm weather has arrived, your child will notice that beautiful bugs and insects are starting to emerge all around us! Have your child create a bug out of toilet paper rolls. If you have empty toilet paper rolls or paper towel rolls, have your child paint or colour them and turn them into adorable creatures!
Outdoor Learning:
Let’s go on a hunt outside! Your job this week is to go outside and look for all the Living and Non-Living things that you can find. Make a chart with 2 columns and draw and label the items you find that are Living and Non-living in each column. Some examples might be birds, rocks, grass..the possibilities are endless!
