K1/K2 Weekly Activities: April 27-May 1
We hope that you and your families continue to be well, and that you are finding ways to enjoy your time together and to learn through play together. As we enter the month of May, we hope for the beauty of Spring to rejuvenate us with hope and wonder, and that we can all be together again soon. Stay safe!
Religion:Spring is a wonderful time to be reminded that God made all of creation. Below is a link to a song that Mrs. Fitzel teaches the kindergarten students each year. The 2nd link is the same song, but shows the actions that accompany it, as demonstrated by the St. James choir from a few years ago. This song is always so much fun for the kids to sing and move along with! Butterflies are often seen as a symbol of God’s creation and how He makes each one of us unique. After listening to the song, If I Were a Butterfly, try making your own butterfly craft to use as you sing along. Use whatever you want, or have at home to make it (paper, coffee filters, paper plate, etc…) or draw your own on a piece of paper. What is special about your butterfly? What is special or unique about you?

Zorbits: This game-based learning program helps students strengthen their math ability and build a positive attitude towards learning math! Your child will meet fun characters, explore far-off planets, and complete heroic quests. All the while, they will be learning and applying math. Best of all, they can play at home!
To play on a computer, visit: https://play.zorbitsmath.com
To play on an iPad, download the Zorbit’s Math Adventure app from the App Store.
If you require your child’s password/log-in information, or if you do not have access to technology for your child to use Zorbits, please contact your child’s homeroom teacher. As always, this and all activities are optional; however, if your child is on zorbits, we have highlighted the measurement planet as a focus.
Language:Read the book,”The Three Little Pigs” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jpEBv1GFte4 and then using a piece of paper draw a picture of the setting (setting-where the story takes place e.g. in a forest, at the farm), the characters (e.g. characters-who is in the story?) and what are the events that happened at the beginning, middle and end of the story. Please add words to describe your pictures!
Have an alphabet search in your home! On a paper print the letters from A to Z then search and find an item that starts with each letter of the alphabet and write it down beside that letter. (e.g. A-apples, B-bed, C-car) Try to find all 26 items for the alphabet!
